Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall

The Studio just received a shipment of new mirrors! We've got mirrors for your foyer (you know, to check your 'do before you walk out the door), your powder room, your daughter's room, you name it; we've got it or we can get it.

So reflect on this and call the Studio at 937-312-9461 or email us for more details or how to buy these mirrors.

Design details that matter

Never ones to think we're the only ones with great design ideas, we love how the owner of this space grouped her collection of small religious icons on this small wall. The grouping seems so much more important and cohesive. Another wonderful detail worth noting is the scalloped edge on the chaise slipcover. And we can only imagine the headboards on those fabulous antique beds... (Photo from March 2007 Veranda magazine.)

Private Idaho gets some press!

It's Friday late morning at the Studio and turning out to be a gorgeous day here in Dayton. Wish I could be lounging in the space above with a cup of coffee and a good book. Imagine the Scouts' excitement upon opening the August issue of Housetrends magazine and seeing a full page devoted to our Servants' Porch at the Dayton Philharmonic Showhouse. If you don't receive Housetrends at your home, stop by the studio and pick up a copy or go to www.housetrends.com; it's got some great inspiration for whatever project you might have in mind for your abode.

Vintage Scout Bridal Registry

The Scouts have been inspired by our friend, Sarah, over at Classic Bride, to create a bridal registery here at Vintage Scout. Everyone loves to get presents, especially brides, and why shouldn't they be fabulous? We are the source for unique and memorable wedding gifts. Are you someone who loves to give a gift that stands out? For instance, would you want to serve your guests from the generic ice bucket from Target that everyone else has, or would you like to show off with one-of-a-kind vintage barware? More practical gifts in mind? We've got luxurious kitchen and bed linens and can even create custom monogram pillows for the happy couple. What a subtle way to tell Auntie Madge that you'd rather receive a Jonathan Adler Muse candle and not a polyester tea cozy from her church bazaar. So, brides and grooms, start your new life together in style; stop by or email the Studio and talk to the Scouts about selecting those items which will make your first home magical.

Joyeux Quatorze Juillet!

or in English, Happy Bastille Day! The French and wannabe Frenchies celebrate each year on the 14th of July to commemorate the 1789 storming of the Bastille prison. The demonstrators were actually just looking for guns and ammunition, but the event proved to be a symbol of defiance and was one of the opening acts of the French Revolution.
Here in Ohio, the Scouts will wash the day's dirt off with Savon de Marsaille,
dry our hands with a Le Jacquard Francais tea towel,
and plop down on our Louis XVI inspired settee to enjoy a lovely glass of French wine.
Bonne Fete!

A Penny for your Thoughts

Just wanted to share this unique floor from the Standard Hotel in NYC. I saw it on http://www.notcot.com/. I'll bet it was easy to figure the cost per square foot! Let us know, would you have them all heads up or mixed? Toss a coin; you decide.

Do I hear.......?

We believe travel is the inspiration the Scouts need to keep their designs fresh and worldly. Good “finds” and good times were had when one of the Scouts seized the opportunity to attend an antique auction in Tennessee and score a fabulous seed or grain bin (or perhaps an old hardware store display for nuts and bolts). This solid piece has a gazillion cubbies and each drawer interior is made of galvanized steel. How industrial chic is that? A true workhorse storage unit, this piece could hold all your favorite treasures; or heck, use it for your own nuts and bolts! The Scouts just might apply a special paint finish on this great piece, unless someone wants it just like it is! Let us know... goin’ once…goin’ twice…SOLD!

Flea Market Finds

The Ohio Scouts took advantage of the holiday weekend and hit the road; two went south and one went north. Coincidentally the Kane County Flea Market, just outside of Chicago, was going on, so never ones to miss an opportunity, the northbound Scout didn't miss it (rain and all!). Although slightly disappointing, none the less there were treasures to be found.

You know the Scouts are always on the look out for additions to the "kennel". This adorable Chihuahua with his friends, Spaniel and Scotty will be making their way back to Dayton this week.

These fun vintage snack dishes would be so cute on your bunco table or for game day parties.

It's flea market season folks! A great reason to stop by the studio frequently. You never know what treasures we'll be returning with as we trek through the country on our quest for those one of a kind items.

Let's hear it for the Red, White, and Blue

Set an original table for your 4th of July party by using vintage dishes. Red and blue transferware mixed and matched in different patterns will create a tabletop your guests will be talking about all summer long.
NOTE:
VINTAGE SCOUT INTERIORS WILL BE CLOSED
FRIDAY, JULY 3rd & SATURDAY, JULY 4th.
