Dayton Philharmonic Designer Show House

Here is our little space the first time we saw it. It is the Servants' Porch. And this is our space after we gave it the Scout magic! We were inspired by the song "Private Idaho" by the B52s. We felt the space would be a little utopia; a place to escape life's hustle and bustle. Head out there with a good book and a drink, and return to reality with a clear mind. Selected furnishings include a reworked vintage chaise, a zebra print cowhide rug, our cute Lola Table, and Jonathan Adler accessories. We were asked by the homeowners not to put any holes in the exterior; thereby prohibiting us from hanging anything. We decided to lean a large mirror, helping to expand the tiny space. We really didn't miss the drapes we had originally wanted to hang, as the architecture of the house is so beautiful. The Show House is open to the public through May 16th. Email the Scouts at info@vintagescout.com or call 937-312-9461 for more information.

Happy Earth Day!

There is nothing greener than rescuing something headed for the landfill. We only wish we had remembered to take a before photo of this piece. The Scouts have recycled this settee into something fit for a palace. Even the beautiful hide used for the upholstery is a repurposed rug. It's available now in the studio for you to take home. Don't think you HAVE to have a palace; this piece has a great scale and would look great in any house. Try it in an entryway (what a statement piece!) or a master bedroom.

Shop In Your Neighbor's store!

Shopping locally is one of the greenest things you can do. It's obvious, less fuel spent to drive to your destination along with fewer emissions. There's another added benefit to buying from your mom and pop store down the street. According to the 3/50 Project, for every $100 spent with a locally owned business, $68 returns to your community. When the same amount is spent at a franchise or big box store, only $43 remains. Online purchases return nothing. Invest in your hometown by supporting your locally owned businesses!

Gorgeous New Frames in the Studio

We've got some great new frames in the studio... all sizes, from 2 x 2 to 8 x 10. Freshen up your bookshelves for spring by switching out some frames. Or add a little whimsy to your vignette, by writing out a favorite quote and framing it. Good frames make all the difference!
